I began as an educator for RN's and medical assistants in the ambulatory clinics of the University of Utah. Job duties included:

• Training RN's and medical assistants on skills such as PICC, Foley, Ports, IVs, venipuncture, wound care, injections, infusions, patient rooming, sterile procedure, sterile processing, EPIC EMR training, rapid response, and code training.
• Helped create and manage preceptor program for University of Utah clinical staff.

At the end of 2019, I was asked to take a different position in the education department to create, implement, teach and manage a medical assistant program. Duties included:

• Creation of non-degree medical assistant program
• Working with outside vendor for student's online content
• Working with our professional education department for onboarding of students
• Teaching in-person skills classes
• Managing skills program content using Canvas platform
• Managing and coordinating applicants and current students using Smartsheets
• Work within my department to place students in externship within University clinics
• Measure metrics on program's success
• Make adjustments and improvements as needed.

• Take a very high volume of calls for home health and hospice companies across the United States
• Triage the calls and help de-escalate, manage medications or symptoms, educate patient and caregivers, order DME equipment, order supplies, walk patient or caregivers through troubleshooting equipment like wound vacs, drains etc.
• Follow protocols for contacting on-call RN’s and AOC’s as appropriate for higher level of need
• Use a variety of online software to assist the patient including Enclara pharmacy, Ubernote, Ubernurse and Total Triage Call software.

• Onboarding process for Home health and Hospice RN, CNA, PT, OT, ST, and SW
• This included department orientation, computers setup and passwords working for clinicians, ordering phones and supplies
• Attended visits with RN’s and CNA’s during their orientation period
• Demonstrated correctly for all skills and ensured that clinician was doing correctly
• Skills included were (not exhaustive list): Wound vacs and wound care, PT/INR, PICC care, IV start, venipuncture and labs, PORT care, pleurx and aspira drains, trach care, ABI measurements and compression training (2 layer, 3 layer, uni boot, circaid, juxtalite, tubigrip), catheter insertion and irrigation, bowel care programs,lift training both Hoyer and Liko lifts, Staple and suture removal, CADD pumps, freedom pumps, G tubes, J tubes, NG’s and kangaroo pumps, subcutaneous infusions for hospice patients
• Taught on admissions both Oasis and non-oasis, resumptions of care, recerts, transfers discharges and routine visits
• Assisted in cross training from home health to hospice and palliative
• Taught GIP admissions and visits
• Reviewed charting from clinicians for accuracy and followed up with them to make any corrections
• Taught clinicians use of McKesson/Horizon charting, Help2 and some Icentra
