Medical Internship (July 2022)

• Shadowed 5 doctors- bariatric surgeon, cardiologist, pain doctor, pediatrician, and geriatric/family medicine specialist
• Interacted with patients and assisted in rooming them and taking their vitals
• Helped doctor complete write-ups of each patient after each appointment
• Edited patient handouts for the bariatric surgeon regarding post-surgery care and diet guidelines

Boston Leadership Institute: “Biomedical and Surgical Research”- 3 Week program (Summer 11)

Week 1: focused on circulatory and respiratory systems

• Performed surgery on a pig heart to help visualize heart structure using newly learned suture skills
• Practiced taking blood pressure using a cuff and listening to heartbeat with a stethoscope on a classmate

Week 2: focused on skeletal and nervous systems

• Took complete cranial nerve exams on classmates to check reflexes and reaction times
• Performed a mock cataract surgery on a cow’s eye and spinal cord dissection of a mouse

Week 3: focused on the digestive system

• Learned about the digestive system and presented my knowledge on Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma to group
• Used knowledge to perform the most complex mock surgery of the class, a gastric bypass

Stanford Program: “Clinical Summer Internship”- 2 Week Program (Summer 11)

• Learned general overview of anatomy through virtual lectures
• Emphasized bedside manners- role-played scenarios with mock patients and learned preferred vocabulary
• Practiced sutures, took vitals, and performed mock surgeries on sheep hearts to help visualize material
