Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association award for Heroism in 2020

This award came as a result of an armed confrontation with a barricaded fugitive with a violent criminal history wanted for attempted murder.  Upon approach a residence the fugitive opened fire from inside the residence striking my team member 3 times.  When he went down I stepped over his body and provided covering fire for his retreat to safety.  While exchanging fire with the fugitive I was struck in the vest.  After moving to cover I, as Team Leader, began coordinating local assistance and emergency evacuation.  My team member made a full recovery and the fugitive survived to be sentenced to 35 years in a federal prison for assaulting federal officers,
