Bifunctional Molecules for the Removal of Extracellular Proteins from the Brain

  • Investigated bifunctional molecules' potential in treating neurodegenerative disease
  • Developed an assay to monitor bifunctional molecules-mediated transcytosis of extracellular proteins in vitro

Undergraduate Research

Professor Gary Pielak's Lab, UNC Chapel Hill
08.2020 - 08.2022

Attenuated total reflectance Fourier-transform infrared (ATR FTIR) spectroscopy of a tardigrade desiccation tolerance protein

  • Studied the secondary structure of tardigrade Cytosolic Abundant Heat Soluble Protein D (CAHS D) to understand its role of desiccation tolerance to understand how structure contributes to function.

Crowding Effect on Protein-Protein Interaction

• Investigated the effect of intracellular environment on the stability of the side-by-side and domain- swapped GB1 dimer.
