Currently my projects revolve around understanding the influence of epigenetic modifications in regulating ageing and gene expression . Heterochromatin maintainance and genome stability is essential for proper functioning of biological system. Our lab focuses on understanding how does a stretch of chromatin "decide" which PTMs ssemble/disassemble? How do they "choose" the levels of those PTMs? Ultimately, we want to understand how cellular answers to these questions lead to developmental or adaptative responses.

My project revolved around understanding the efficacy of probiotics in helath and diseases. The isolation and identification of new strains of probiotics is a continuous ongoing process. The project assessed the curative prospects of the two newly isolated probiotic strains. Adherence to the intestinal epithelial cells is an important criterion a probiotic should satisfy before it is commercialized. New probiotic isolates were studied to assess their degree of adhesion to differentcell lines HT 29, Caco2 and T84. Amongst the three cell lines used in the study, HT 29 and Caco2 served as a good models for adhesion studies.
