In pursuant to the Department of Corrections’ mission, I performed and provided for the custody, control, supervision, and daily care of inmate security, and inmate care functions on various post assignments, including: housing units, control points, program/work assignments, and specific security areas. In my higher rank and management, I was assigned to posts requiring an increased knowledge of the correctional system, and a greater incidence of problem solving, situation assessment, and decision making.
Special assignments include: Selected as a member of the SWAT team, development and instruction of multiple department wide training programs, including taser certification and annual in-service courses, provided years of leadership in the special management housing, overseeing four mental health housing units and disciplinary segregation, created and led a recourse team which engaged severely mentally ill inmates in structured rehabilitation activities, and was a field training officer providing guidance and mentorship to entry level officers.
