As a HealthCare Navigator, I worked for a grant that assisted Americans affordable health insurance options. I marketed the program thru door to door visits, cold calls, health & resource fairs. I was responsible for handling Private Personal Information in a professional manner and was responsible for maintaining time usage and mileage reports.
As noted, I spent 23 years in public education, as a teacher, mentor, district testing coordinator, and many other hats as teachers do. People skills are the greatest take away from my time in public education. Education can sensitive in that you are working with many different individuals coming from varying backgrounds and all with different ideas on how situations should be handled. I pride myself on my empathic personality, meaning that I have learned to walk in others shoes, listen, consider all points of view and work with others to determine a solution to problems that works best for all involved. I have developed many long term relationships with students, co-workers and parents that are based in respect, consideration and te4amwork towards a positive end.
Prior to working in education, I spent a great deal of time in the health care industry. I worked as a unit secretary at a Rehabilitation Unit, as a schedule in a Radiology Department, Medical Records Clerk in an Outpatient Therapy clinic and lastly a Team Coordinator for a Home Health Agency. From these experiences I have a basic knowledge of medical terminology, scheduling and medical records.
