Director

Lancaster Regional Medical Center
Lancaster, PA
10.2007 - 07.2013
  • I have accomplished a stable work environment for the staff. Teamwork and morale on the unit has improved over the years. A physician trusting the nurses was a huge challenge when I began this position and this is one of our biggest accomplishments. Mentoring of new staff had been put in place and has significantly grown. Employee satisfaction and trust was a huge concern when I began my journey as the Director and has improved greatly over the years. I have developed excellent rapport with the medical staff. The Physicians are comfortable approaching me with concerns and know that I will find a solution. It was challenging with the day to day staffing to ensure our patients were adequately cared for. The turnover rate of staff was minimal on PCU. Another accomplishment for me is I am on the steering committee for GE2 as head of the Professional Development team. During my years as the director, I have also served as an interim Director for Cardiology services as well as the float pool staff. I have also served as an interim Director of acute care services at the Heart of Lancaster. During my time as the interim at the Heart employee, satisfaction and patient satisfaction improved. I have performed disciplinary counseling with associates as well as I have been a part of termination of employment. I have learned about patient grievances as well as Physician complaints. My communication skills have improved greatly. I send the PCU staff weekly huddles. I perform patient and associate rounds to find out where our opportunities for improvement are.
