  • I collected, filtered, and identified microplastics present in water samples from various locations around the Baltimore Harbor in Maryland
  • Using the data collected, I calculated the average number of microplastics present in the various locations was quantified
  • I took images of the microplastics using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), 50X digital microscope, and binocular Leica Zoom 2000 stereo microscope
  • I also presented this research poster at the regional Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemical (SETAC) conference as well as the national SETAC conference.

  • I observed the relationship between the behaviors of Western Lowland Gorillas in response to visitor behavior at the Philadelphia Zoo

Volunteer Experience

  • Fox Chase Cancer Center: I volunteered in the infusion room. Some of my duties include: assisting the nurses and medical assistants with patients, keeping patients company during their long appointment time, getting patients beverages, snacks, and/or a blanket, restocking the beverages and snacks, walking patients to their chairs, and cleaning the chairs after use.
  • Global Medical Brigades : During the Fall 2020 semester, I went on a Medical Telebrigade where I was able to learn about the culture of Honduras, learn some medical Spanish, and acquire 26 patient contact hours. I was able to communicate efficiently with patients who came into the clinic and work with attending physicians via video chat in Granadilla and El Jiote, Honduras.
  • National Greyhound Adoption Program :Every few weeks I go down to NGAP and I spend two hours walking the greyhounds that are rescued from Qatar. I spend 15 minutes walking one dog and then continue to walk the next dog.
  • Ascend Hospice Care : I visit a few residents weekly and spend time reading, talking, exercising, and watching TV with the residents. I also communicate with the residents’ families ensuring that their loved one is being cared for and treated with respect.
