As a senior nutrition leader my main duty is providing healthy meals to our seniors at six different senior centers in San Bernardino. Our menu is always reviewed by the County of San Bernardino's health department and determined to be nutritionally healthy for our seniors. I am in a small crew of 4 or 5 nutrition leaders who prepare approximately 200 lunches Monday thru Friday and approximately 60 dinners Tuesday thru Thursday. Approximately 100 lunches are delivered to 5 other senior centers in San Bernardino and 100 lunches are served at our main center on 5th st., where we prepare all of our meals. Once our seniors are finished with lunch at approximately 12:30 I am in charge of preparing dinner for approximately 60 people and serve at 2:15. In detail my responsibilities are...helping with preparation for what's on the lunch menu for that day, responsible for what's on the dinner menu for that day, temperature documentation for all categories of food, making sure all proper trays and pans are used for various centers have different amounts, making sure everything is labeled and put in the proper hot box or cold box for delivery, making sure our serving line is always clean, washing pots and pans ect., disinfecting dinning room tables, sweeping, emptying trash, helping to put away deliveries, making sure kitchen is shinny clean at the end of the day, most of all getting to know our seniors and helping to create a nice experience for them.

i have been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the American Legion Post 106 since 2007. As second vice for 8 years I was in charge of cooking and decorating for any fundraisers that required it. I would get together volunteers to help with these fundraisers. We prepared many big meals for our veterans and our community as well. Some of the annual events were St. Patties Day, Cinco De Mayo, USO fundraiser, Mardi Gras, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Thanksgiving Dinner and other events that were not necessarily annual. My husband and I also started our own catering business for guest renting the American Legion hall for events.
