Genetics Summer Research Intern supported by the Whitman Undergraduate Internship Grant. Under the supervision of Dr. Arielle Cooley (Department of Biology), the researcher worked to determine the melanin pigmentation and light preferences between and among two species of Drosophila. Microscopy and techniques for handling live specimens were used throughout the experiments. The researcher also co-authored a paper with other study participants, which was subsequently published in the journal Ecology and Evolution.
