Provide inpatient counseling, milieu and crisis management (using a Unified Protocol and Trauma Informed Care clinical model). Work with patients within a group or individually, implementing and establishing behavior strategies. Consult with team members regarding treatment plans as deemed appropriate. Serve as preceptor and mentor for incoming BHS team members. Assist in the safety needs of the unit as well as respond throughout the hospital as a member of the Behavioral Assistance Response Team. Ensure the unit is environmentally safe nightly upon each shift worked. Assist RN during admission process for new patients. Display sensitivity to cultural and linguistic needs of clients and families served. Work collaboratively and independently based on needs of unit providing closed loop communication each shift.

Float to respected areas as needed within hospital, Neuropsychiatry Specialty Care, Emergency Psych Department, PICU, as well as other medical care units.

Chosen in 2012 as one of 12 employees by 400 leaders from CHCO to reconnect and recreate the values of the hospital. Spent two years assisting in this process, leading focus groups, collecting data, interviews, ideas, thoughts and opinions from a large sampling of CHCO employees. Provided inpatient care for children and adolescents with Eating Disorders and comorbid diagnosis including but not limited to Anorexia, Bulimia, and ARFID. Supported patients using Maudsley (FBT),CBT, DBT,and Emotion Focused Family Therapy. Provided meal coaching for patients and families. Responsible for set up and monitoring cardiac responses. Obtained vital signs. Completed nightly safety checks. Managed the inpatient milieu as the lone BHS. Precepted all incoming BHS team members.

Utilized Safety Care to provide an overall and encompassing safe unit.

Served as a member of the Psych Advisory Counsel, Mental Health Counselor Sr. and Safety Committee. Co-led Code Simulations and collected research date to improve effectiveness and better outcomes of care. Served as a BART responder.

Assigned to patients daily and responsible for running groups on a variety of subjects including but not limited to: Anger management, self esteem, depression, diagnosis teaching, chemical dependency, medication education, life and coping skills. Guided patients in effective therapeutic exercises integrated from Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Precepted incoming MHCs. Ensured current and incoming staff were trained about safety within the milieu.

Created the position of Activity Coordinator . 2004

Created new developmentally appropriate groups, activities and structure for psychiatric inpatients.. Assisted, planned, co-led and facilitated with other disciplines in the Creative Arts, Occupational Therapy and developed a non-religious spiritual group with the hospital Chaplain..
