My name is Amaya Roberts and I appreciate you taking the time to read my resume. I graduated from Appling County High School in 2019. I was in band for seven years. I was apart of leadership for the Pirate Brigade. This meant a lot to me because I spent the most of my time trying hard to do well in band. It laid a solid basis for my life and will always have a positive impact on how I live. After high school, I decided to pursue a degree in Education at East Georgia State College. I chose Education because I enjoy working with students more than anything. It makes me delighted to know that I wake up every morning and strive to be a positive impact on my current students/coworkers that I come into contact with. I enjoy working to the best of my abilities to provide a positive work environment, whether that be in a classroom or office. In April 2020, I received my Associate's of Elementary Education from East Georgia State College. Since then, I have attended Western Governors University from March 2021 to June 2022. I transferred because WGU didn't offer enough in depth classes or learning opportunities. I've been a student at Liberty University ever since. In December 2023, I earned my degree in psychology, and in January 2024, I began my master's program. In a few months, I will have the opportunity to visit Liberty University to see the institution and gain more in-depth understanding of school counseling, which excites me.
I enjoy working as an after-school teacher. I teach approximately 10 to 13 students who require further academic support. I start my afternoons by passing out snacks, and we have a bathroom break during this time. Then we spend approximately an hour doing homework and participating in learning activities.
Since I have been employed at the complex, it has been an amazing experience. I've picked up a lot of knowledge and abilities from those around me. I have made an effort to be a good influence on my coworkers, community, and the students in at ACEC while being an administrative assistant.
As a Substitute Teacher, I was able to meet many amazing students and teachers. In the mornings, I helped the class with their morning work and groups. I made sure to enforce classroom routines to keep students on schedule and operating at consistent level. I also was able to file papers and grade homework from the students. During their lunch time, I assisted the students while they ate their food. In the evenings, we had resource classes where I assisted them as well.
Coronavirus has changed the lives of many people. I was given the opportunity to tutor Hudson Lewis. He chose to participate in virtual learning during the 2020/2021 school year. Throughout the school year, I had to construct lesson plans for his schooling. I was able to teach him new subjects, help him with homework, and I prepared athletic activities for Hudson to participate in. I also provided him with academic stability this year as well.
During my senior year, I was able to work in the front office at Appling County Primary School. I answered phone calls, managed radio calls, and I helped with multiple types of paperwork. I enjoy working in an office setting. I get along with new and familiar faces everyday.
