Thomas Phillips

Lockwood Marine primarily handles to the moves for ship and submarine prefabricated structures coming in and out of the Newport News Shipyard. My role is helping manage the logistics of all the loadings/unloading of the Lockwood Marine barges involving cranes to the degree of a crane plan, dunnage, and tie down plan. I am always on site managing the riggers, flagging the crane, and physically lashing the structures to the barge itself. I am also heavily involved in the barge maintenance which requires me to do some oxy-acetylene burning, working with welders and often requires the use of cranes.

While working for W.M. Jordan Company I spent time interning as an Assistant Superintendent, Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer and VDC Engineer. During this internship I was onsite working with the teams for 8 different commercial projects over the years. Some of these projects I worked on ranged from museum and hospital renovations, to new construction. All of these sites I spent time on during different build phases, allowing me to learn many aspects of construction for multiple building types, while working in different roles that support the project.
