Responsibilities
· Answer telephone inquires and delegate assignments.
· Assist Regional Dispatchers during emergency situations and breaks.
· Perform administrative duties as assigned by the District Commander/Assistant Commander.
· Maintain discipline of personnel during the incumbent’s shift in adherence with Department Standard Operating Procedures.
· Monitor operations in the District during the Duty Officer’s shift.
· Notify the news media of newsworthy events in a timely fashion.
· Collect and review special enforcement project data.
· Keep the District Commander apprised of noteworthy activities that transpired during the officer’s schedule.
· Recommend budget items to the District Commander.
· Work with the District Commander to formulate future data program needs.
· Assist the Assistant District Commander with overseeing and operating the District facility.
· Make policy and procedure recommendations to the District Commander.
· Collect and disseminate statistical information to the line commanders.
· Maintain a working relationship with other law enforcement agencies, government officials, and news media.
· Assist squad leaders in a supervisory and administrative capacity

· Patrol county, state and federal roads to detect and apprehend criminal and traffic law violators.
· Investigate vehicle crashes.
· Make death notifications.
· Attempt to locate motorists and/or other persons for the delivery of emergency information.
· Direct and control traffic at disaster scenes, accident sites and special events.
· Render first aid to persons until medical help arrives.
· Conduct criminal investigations.
· Coordinate and assist investigative efforts with Special Investigations Division.
· Testify in criminal and traffic court.
· Prepare and submit various reports in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
· Identify, collect and submit evidence in compliance with Department Standard Operating Procedures.
· Transport emergency medical supplies, blood, etc.
· Present law enforcement related public affairs programs.
· Assist local, county, federal law enforcement agencies and other state agencies in a wide variety of areas.
· Investigate and enforce Laws, Rules and Regulations regarding commercial motor vehicles.
· Inspect vehicles and check drivers for motor carrier safety and hazardous materials compliance.
· Assist with and/or conduct crash investigations involving commercial motor vehicles.
· Impound vehicles in violation of laws, rules and regulations pertaining to commercial motor vehicles.
· Weigh trucks on permanent and/or portable scales.
· Set up portable scales in order to weigh trucks.
· Assist with the training of Department personnel and personnel from other agencies.
· Answer questions on motor carrier laws, rules and regulations for Department personnel and the public.
· Prepare and submit reports as required.
· Assist the incident command structure at a commercial motor vehicle crash site involving the release of hazardous materials.
