  • Rooming and assessing patients for eye diseases and diagnosis checking visual acuity (near, distance, and pinhole) interocular pressure ( IOP), motility, pupillary function, visual fields and refraction.   • Triaged phone calls from patients and outside contacts with ocular injuries and diseases by handling order of importance. Made patient referral appointments to outside providers and resources directed by physicians for ocular care and additional testing.
  • Worked up patients referred to clinics from outside healthcare providers for additional evaluations, medical treatment and exams such as cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration, with proper testing and information.
  • Checked messages (voicemail and EPIC messages) to schedule and reschedule future appointments and questions from patients with ocular concerns and questions. Relayed patient information to physicians and returned calls to patients in a timely manner.
  • Setup sterilization procedure kit with proper documentation and consent forms for physicians to conduct in office procedures such as chalazions. Completing patient history, evaluations and glare testing for physician to proceed with YAG laser capsulotomy and selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) in office procedures.
  • Administered eye drops to dilate pupils and take ocular pressure in preparation for examinations, after ensuring no afferent pupillary defect (APD) was not detected or identified. Ensured patients prescribed ocular medications are current and adequate refills are in, while submitting proper paperwork for prior authorizations to be processed and completed within the time limit.
  • Knowledgeable in using Lensometer to measure and record lens power of existing prescriptive spectacles as well as refracting patients for new prescription glasses or contact lens to be dispensed.
  • Assisted and trained patients with placement, insertion, removal and cleaning of contact lens, to include specialty contact lens such as rigid gas permeable (RGP), scleral and toric lenses, with additional images ensuring contact lens are properly fitted for physician.
  • Operated ophthalmic equipment and specialized testing such as auto refractor, phoropter, humphrey visual field test, optical coherence tomography (OCT), pachymetry, IOL, A-scan, BAT, fundus photos to complete specialized testing for examinations. Conducted stereoscopic and ishahara tests as directed.
