Experienced building leader with 21 years of experience as an administrator, 19 years as a building principal. Building relationships, idea development, staff and student relationships, community involvement, and patient problem solving are strengths that are brought along with this candidate.
Lead and collaborated with staff to develop a solid curriculum, athletic and extra curricular experiences for students. Worked closely with teachers to develop solutions to issues as they arose and wasn't afraid to work side by side with teachers as solutions were implemented.
Took a break from education as my daughter battled cancer and worked in a test labratory for Eaton. I worked on hoses for military vehicles to ensure they continued to work after being struck by bullets and sustatined functioning during high temperature situations.
Increased enrollment by 150 students over the course of five years during a time when people/students were leaving Michigan as a whole. Made our school the school that people from around Genesee County wanted to come to. Worked hard to increase our STEM program and worked closely with teachers to develop a cohesive staff.
In my first year of being a principal, I opened a new high school and then spent eight great years working with a staff that functioned like family. We worked hard to develop ideals that would raise our ACT scores. In the 8 years I was principal, we went from 15.2 average to 18.5 average and increased attendance rates from 77% daily attendance to 97%. We spent a lot of time working with Ruby Payne to help bridge and develop working relationships with students and staff.
I was hired to do this job because of my background in discipline. During my daily responsibilities, I handled all discipline within the building. More time was spent toward working with students, developing relationships, and building on student successes. Spent time coaching during this time to assist in the building relationships piece. Most of my day was spent in the hallways and supervising lunches.
I worked with students who had been expelled in both regular education and alternative education. I had 12 students who I was responsible for teaching the four core subjects in the morning and trying to get them a job in the afternoon. Our classroom was located in an industrial incubator, so students could be easily hired. I graduated 10/12 students in the two years I was there.
Out of college, I was hired to spend time with students in a residential setting for two years, where I was with them all the time. During school, during transition, at night in the cottage, and over holidays. After the two years, I was promeoted to Senior Clinician where I was responsible for a cottage, the staff and students in that cottage. I ran group meetings, developed treatment mileu, and planned daily activities for students. Worked on changes in thinking processes with students, ran grief recovery sessions and helped them make changes within themselves. My cottage had a 77% success rate reintigrating to the community.
