In a nutshell, Tolga Onuk is an athlete, a designer, and a serial entrepreneur with a myriad of experience in management, product development, and marketing. Driven by a passion for transforming industries, Tolga built multiple tech startups and advised over 40 companies.
In his last role, Tolga was the VP of Product Development at Envoy EV Sharing which was acquired by Blink Charging (NASDAQ:BLNK). Until the 2020 pandemic, he served as the Managing Partner & CEO of New Wave Holdings (CSE:SPOR), an acquisition and investment company. Prior to this he founded and served as CEO of Beverly Hills-based Thunderbolt Studios, which (among other things) created Curbstand to help solve valet & parking issues in major cities, and Grassp to provide a convenient way to discover premium-quality cannabis for delivery through licensed dispensaries. All after starting his career in design and technology leadership roles at leading companies like Spin Master and Electronic Arts.
- Helped the company to transform the existing ev-rental application to an enterprise level multi-company fleet operations and tracking platform in less than 18 months which was acquired by Blink EV Charging for $34M in April 2023.
- Reported to the CEO and oversaw the product design, architecture and roadmap while supporting and supervising the software development team.
- Utilized his engineering resources to support Loop's product development efforts while kickstarting the company's marketing strategy. Redesigned the Loop EV Charging Network brand, website, and mobile app.
- Worked with the CEO, supervised and supported the development team while establishing the company's online presence, and marketing strategies. After Tolga Onuk’s involvement in the organization, the total revenue increased from $350K to $6.5M in 18 months and the company raised $60M on their Series A round.
- Kickstarted a new acquisition strategy for New Wave and the company made multiple investments into various technology and eSports startups.
- Under Tolga’s leadership New Wave started a reverse merger and became a publicly traded company at the Canadian Stock Exchange in October 2019. After the 2020 pandemic, New Wave Holdings started investing & acquiring companies within other emerging industries.
- Built an award-winning product development and marketing studio with offices in Beverly Hills and engineering partners around the globe. The company was bootstrapped by the founder Tolga Onuk after he simultaneously signed multiple partnership deals that ended up generating $1.5M in revenue.
- The company was chosen by brands like Fox Sports, Verizon, Alaska Airlines, Beats By Dre. Since the company’s first establishment in 2013, Thunderbolt developed games, apps, campaigns while working on dozens of startup projects.
- Thunderbolt’s portfolio startups raised $8.5 combined early-stage funding from institutional & private investors. Thunderbolt Studios received 3 Best of Industry awards from IAC in 2015, and the company was featured as an industry leader by Clutch in 2018. Thunderbolt CDG Inc. equity-crowdfunding platform (Formerly known as Thunderbolt Capital) was acquired by New Wave Holdings in January 2019.
- Founding team member and Chief Product Officer of Grassp. Also acting as the head of marketing for the company, Tolga created the brand, designed the cross-device platform and directed the development of the web/iOS/Android applications.
- Created the product roadmap, investor presentations and user acquisition plans. He presented the venture to private investors in California and in Colorado and assisted the team in receiving $1.5M angel investment. Grassp is the first legally available Cannabis delivery SaaS application in California.
- Designed web/iOS/Android CD platform application that allows medical dispensaries to offer Point-of-Sale everywhere, legally.
- Designed the first proprietary analytics tool for tracking cannabis sales and deliveries for medical dispensaries.
