My goal is to continue to contribute to DCS where my knowledge, experience, and positive attitude are beneficial to those being served. I feel prior experience with CPS and with Resource Linkage Coordinator/Volunteer Coordinator has left me well-prepared to meet the expectations of the Program Specialist-Facilitator position. Also, I have almost 22 years' experience with DCS and feel I am a team player who has developed, maintained, and demonstrated a great working relationship with community partners, court staff and other DCS staff. I also feel professional relationships are crucial for any potential candidate seeking the available position.
I am currently employed as Resource Linkage Coordinator/Volunteer Coordinator. I attend monthly Health Council meetings, carry a caseload of Resource Linkage cases, certify volunteers and interns, and keep 2 transitional homes stocked with needed food and hygiene items. I also coordinate Weakley Wishes Christmas Program that provides children in need with Christmas gifts. I also try to find local resources to assist with specific needs when noticed by case workers of what is needed for families.
When I worked CPS, I assessed and investigated child abuse and child neglect cases. I worked closely with law enforcement, District Attorney’s office along with other community partners. I attended court hearings when individuals are charged with a crime and also when Department of Children Services(DCS) files a petition to remove the children. I also worked closely with the families by providing them with monthly school/home visits and referring them to in home services when needed
I assisted children and families by providing services when needed to at risk children. I also made school and home visits to ensure the youth were following all school rules along with following all rules set forth by their parents and/or guardians. I also assisted the court with transporting females to placements when the court ordered them to a residential facility or group home.
