After working in various medical offices for a total of ten years, I developed an interest in Medical Coding. When I became a mom to my two boys I was a stay at home mom for six years. During my time as a stay at home mom, I became interested in starting my own in home baking business. Over a period of four years, I worked extremely hard at that business and had even gone into partnership with business owners to start and run a cafe and bakery. After COVID hit my partners decided to sell the land and not pursue the business. After years of hard work and set backs with entrepreneurship, I realized the value of a stable job and company. I decided to pursue my interest in Medical Coding and worked my hardest in my Medical Coding course and passed my Medical Coding exam. I found a job with Norco working on insurance denials and have enjoyed trying to figure out why a claim is denying and try to do everything to get payment from insurance companies. While this has been a great job and a very good working environment I am hoping to further my skills in Medical Coding and Billing.
Worked on insurance denials for durable medical equipment and fixed any errors and resubmitted the claims to be reprocessed. Processed and submitted medical claims from insurance denials to ensure timely reimbursement. Sent appeals on claims and submitted authorization to insurance companies. Verified patient insurance information to make sure it was up to date. Contacted insurance companies to resolve any billing issues for claims that were denying. Maintained accurate records of patient accounts to help prevent any billing issues. Worked closely with co workers from home and in the office if I had questions.
Owned and operated an in-home bakery where I baked various goods for customers at their request. Main focus was themed cake decorating.
Cleaned homes for clients based on their needs and preferences. Light to deep cleaning, organization, as well as seasonal cleaning.
Worked as a paraprofessional in the Special Education department assisting students in their classes and with assignments. Was expected to adjust quickly to various situations and personalities and create a safe work environment for special education students.
Traveled to various clinics assisting with front desk responsibilities as a member of the medical receptionist float pool. Main responsibilities were answering phones, scheduling appointments, collecting payments, and verifying insurance while staying in compliance with the way different clinics performed these tasks.
Processed all referrals for various clinics within the health system as a Resource Center Specialist.
Managed front office for an Internal Medicine clinic as a Lead Patient Service Representative. Responsibilities included, ordering office supplies, organizing tasks, and assisting with job duties for peers.
