Summary

My name is Travis Simons and I am currently serving as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. I have been in for two years now and my job is 0311 Infantryman. I continuously train with my unit, located in Smyrna Tennessee. When I'm not training with my unit I work as a corrections officer for Rutherford County Correctional Work Center. In our line of work we are taught to use clear concise directions, good communication between officers and inmates, and de-escalation techniques.

In the past year I was selected to be apart of Headquarters Marine Corps funeral honors section. We are located on marine corps base Quantico, VA. My job as a funeral honors clerk is to process incoming request, locate discharge documents, and assign the appropriate unit to render funeral honors for veterans and retirees.

As a material handler I operate a forklift and a tug. I organize, wrap, and load parts within the warehouse by using a forklift. Often times I will drop the needed parts for other material handlers to take to the production line outside the warehouse. I also tilt and empty the fluids out of engines after they are completed and been ran through the hot test.

  • My sophomore year of high school I was nominated Cadet of The Quarter in Marine Corps JROTC.
  • I was selected twice both my sophomore and junior year to attend the annual Vanderbilt NROTC cadet visit.
  • In between my sophomore and junior year of high school I was assigned the position as company gunnery sergeant for our annual Cadet Leadership Course.
  • The beginning of my junior year I was promoted to the rank of Cadet Sergeant Major and held the command position Battalion Sergeant Major.
  • At The beginning of my senior year I was promoted to the rank of Cadet Captain and held the highest command position of Company Commander.
  • On the 6th of May 2022, I graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Training on Parris Island South Carolina. While on Parris Island I was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Private First Class and received a commendation letter from the battalion commander at the time (Lieutenant Colonel Donis).
  • On the 10th of August 2022, I graduated from The School of Infantry East Camp Geiger, North Carolina. While at the school I learned my specific occupation which is 0311 Rifleman.
  • Promoted to E3 Lance Corporal USMC 12th of January 2023.
  • Completed 16 Hours of Strategic Self Defense & Gun Tactics training (SSGT).
