My name is Travis Simons and I am currently serving as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. I have been in for two years now and my job is 0311 Infantryman. I continuously train with my unit, located in Smyrna Tennessee. When I'm not training with my unit I work as a corrections officer for Rutherford County Correctional Work Center. In our line of work we are taught to use clear concise directions, good communication between officers and inmates, and de-escalation techniques.
In the past year I was selected to be apart of Headquarters Marine Corps funeral honors section. We are located on marine corps base Quantico, VA. My job as a funeral honors clerk is to process incoming request, locate discharge documents, and assign the appropriate unit to render funeral honors for veterans and retirees.
As a material handler I operate a forklift and a tug. I organize, wrap, and load parts within the warehouse by using a forklift. Often times I will drop the needed parts for other material handlers to take to the production line outside the warehouse. I also tilt and empty the fluids out of engines after they are completed and been ran through the hot test.
As General Labor I was moved around to various different jobs within the department I worked for, which was cutup. I worked in the blast freezer, racked chicken products, and retrieved the proper amount/type of tray for the processing line.
