Hello there! My name is Tyshira. (But you can call me Tyra) I’m originally from Williamson, West Virginia, but I currently reside in Dayton, Ohio. I would describe myself as a hardworking, coachable, and reliable individual. I enjoy spending time outdoors in nature, being with my family, and making the most out of life. I treat others with respect and strive to treat people the way I would like to be treated.
I put in my best effort every day and always aim to give 100%. I’m currently studying Diagnostic Sonography, as I have a strong passion for the medical field and have loved working with the amazing patients I’ve encountered over the past four years.
I also have solid experience with EPIC systems, patient scheduling, multi-line phone systems, mail sorting, insurance verification, admissions, general clerical duties, customer service, patient care, HIPAA compliance, and more!
At the Spine and Nerve Pain Center, I scheduled appointments, verified insurance, checked patients in and out, sent and received medical records, sorted mail, made reminder calls for upcoming procedures, scanned new patient documents into charts, and occasionally answered phones as needed.
Patient Access Specialist (PAS)
In my role as a Patient Access Specialist, my responsibilities included (but were not limited to): scheduling Maternal-Fetal Medicine ultrasounds, as well as genetic, diabetic, and physician consult appointments. I regularly communicated with various physician offices to coordinate and schedule new incoming patients.
Additional duties included preparing upcoming charts and orders for all patients, managing incoming and outgoing faxes, and ensuring proper distribution and filing. I also sorted mail and new orders, placing them in the appropriate locations.
Once a month, I supported the Emergency Department on weekends by performing basic admitting and registration tasks.
As a Medical Receptionist, I handled multiple tasks throughout the day. I answered incoming calls regarding patient appointments and prescriptions, checked patients in and out, and managed incoming faxes, mail, additional forms, and paperwork—ensuring they were placed in the appropriate physician’s area. I also prepared patient charts for upcoming appointments and organized new patient scans, filing them accurately in each patient’s chart
