Current Research

"Mixed Race People In American Slavery."

Using a qualitative analysis, this research will detail the lives of mixed-race communities that developed in Nashville, Tennessee before and directly after the Emancipation Proclamation. It focuses on common marriage patterns, job prospects, and individual lives. A quantitative synthesis will be used to infer the rate of assimilation into white society or if assimilation occurred at all.
