• • Analyze the existing Honda inbuilt mainframe REQ configuration management system, prepare the design, and develop a new tool to automate the migration to the Changeman application. This requires lots of analysis of old programs (Naming conventions, security level, access level, etc..,); based on the analysis tools will be developed by writing new programs for integration and other business purposes. This is a multi-year project which involves the migration of around 80,000 mainframe programs from REQ to ChangeMan
• • Based on the above-mentioned tool output recommendations will be provided to management on the next steps to be taken
• • Leverage the knowledge strength in mainframe technologies like COBOL, DB2, JCL, VSAM, CICS, ASSEMBLER, REXX, CLIST, Document Direct, ChangeMan, ProJcl, DocuText, SPUFI, Endevor, QMF, TWS, ZEKE, Xpeditor, Intertest, SmartTest, File-Aid, Platinum for IBM DB2, Librarian, VSAM, DB2 and IMS DB
• • Daily system scanning using the inbuilt written mainframe utilities to check the overall health of the system and to avoid any memory leakage and RACF security issue
• • Writing the new or modifying the existing Cobol report programs to monitor the space, report & user statistics, etc., and take necessary countermeasure as and when needed
• • Assisting in RDO and Changeman ZMF set up of new test environment for project releases
• • Install and/or coordinate with IBM to install/update new versions of mainframe applications and testing as time for such tasks come up
• • Prepare technical workflow design for the overall end-to-end integration
• • Maintain the Honda inbuilt complex ISD Standards Checker program and related CLIST/Dialog Manager application
• • Analyze the existing application and prepare BRD & technical design document for other team to rewrite it in modern open system language (PeopleSoft)
• • Coordinate with IBM for new mainframe printer installation and driver update for existing mainframe printers and monitor equipment functioning to ensure it is aligned and working properly
• • Install/upgrade new version of document direct web application and testing as time for such tasks come up
• • Providing technical support for any ABENDS and critical outages in applications
• • Prepare disaster recovery plan and disaster Recovery testing for CA and Longmont CO site
• • Monitoring the implemented & in-progress projects to ensure adherence to the guidelines defined by the client & LTI
• • Design and prepare design artifacts to ensure adherence to the guidelines defined by the client & LTI
• • In-person interaction with Business and Application users to understand how existing functionality of system to be Enhanced
• • Providing value additions to application through continuous improvement initiatives such as perfective, preventive, and adaptive activities
• • Completing SDLC and performing requirement gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and integration of products/web applications
• • Perform code review and unit test modules as per performance criteria specified in architecture
• • Prepare production release, implementation, rollback plan, and expected deliverable list
• • For Production readiness, create Deployment Handover docs, Checklists for pre and Post Production phases

This project is to optimize mainframe performance by VSAM Re-Org and recompile critical programs in an upgraded mainframe to pick up latest mainframe architecture. Many critical VSAM files used in systems were not reorganized for last 20 years and because of that, system performance was severely degraded.

1. Identified VSAM files that need to be reorganized based on CI/CA splits
2. Performed Impact analysis, prepared Impact Analysis document, and prepared test JCL’s for Re-org (around 200 files)
3. Prepared test JCL’s for around 150 programs and tested in test region.

AVIVA EX NU Production Support and Enhancement

This project deals with the enhancement part. I worked both in Lights On Support as well as enhancement. This project deals with Impact analysis, design, coding, and testing are involved extensively in coding, testing, and implementation and are also involved in other phases of SDLC to some extent.

1. Handled the Mainframe part of the project.
2. Involved in all the phases of SDLC (Impact Analysis, Design, Coding, Testing, Implementation, etc.,)
3. Updating status reports to the client daily.
4. Handled a 7-member team and conducted peer reviews.
5. Cross-skilled in Micro Focus COBOL to develop applications in the IMFIRST area.
6. Involved in the COBOL code changes, testing, implementation, and post-implementation support.
7. Effective communication with the Client as well as the Onshore Coordinator to deliver the expected outputs with high efficiency.
8. Involved in unit and regression testing for the modules and preparing the test cases.
