  • CHPS (Children’s Home Preventive Services) Caseworker——Support, guide, and counsel the most high risk families in Broome County. CHPS collaborates with DSS and CPS to develop the effective case treatment plans. Caseworkers perform regular home visits as we assess safety and risk factors. Caseworkers are responsible for numerous adult face-to-face and child face-to-face contacts monthly. Caseworkers work closely with other service providers i.e. schools, doctors offices, government agencies, clinicians, daycares etc. Caseworkers enter all documentation onto NYS connections and work with FASP’s.
  • Sunrise RTA Family Life Specialist— Our goal is to teach, support, and rehabilitate young women who have committed crimes in the state of New York. While following the CARE approach, each child is treated like an individual that has suffered from great deals of trauma in their respective lives. I meet with dorm supervisors and the dorm social worker regularly to come up with youth specific treatment plans that tackle special goals. I advocate for our youth to develop positive relationships on campus and in the community. I write extensive and elaborate notes at the end of my shifts to ensure that everyone on our team is in the loop with what is happening on that specific day.
  • “Friend-to-Child” mentor program participant— I schedule meetings with the youth and dorm social-workers to develop appropriate activities that focus on specific independent living skills for that specific youth.
  • Sunrise Dorm Peer Advocate— Work closely with both dorm supervisor and dorm social worker to plan ecological orientated activities for a specific youth. Our objective is to devise goals i.e. go to Skate Estate (improve social skills), go grocery shopping (abide by a budget) that tackle the necessary independent living skills that our youth requires to live a successful life. I will write extensive and organized notes to highlight goals and outcomes. As an advocate I also transport and supervise off-campus visitations.

Our mission was simple, raise money for blood cancer research by organizing events, sending letters to friends, colleagues, neighbors, etc. I was able to raise a little over 20,000 dollars in just a ten-week frame.
