  • Instead of applying, Nick Tomes contacted me because other people in the industry suggested me as the perfect person to 'do a bit of everything' and be able to handle the risk and responsibility of such a position
  • Foreman, CNC Machinist, Human Resources, Customer Service, & Quality Control: My responsibilities fell into nearly every category here
  • I was in charge of internet marketing, posting 'for hire' ads, interviewing employees, and choosing part-time hires
  • Those duties also included supervising any and all new employees and future hires regardless of their position or experience in the shop

  • Quality Control Inspector: Responsible for inspecting every single part/job at various steps in job processes using visual inspection standards (microscope work), various measurement steps utilizing CMM machines, Profilometers, Interferometers, Laser Micrometers, Optical Flats with Monochromatic lights (wave patterns), hand-filing and cleaning, some assembly of sensitive parts, and digital measurement instruments to find height, width, wave patterns, flatness, circularity, concentricity, diameter measurements (both ID and OD), and many other print-specific measurement specifications
  • Inspection with various handheld measuring instruments such as Micrometers, Marameters, Bore Gages, Gage Blocks, Gage Pins (including setting up and calibrating these instruments, as well as assigning and accounting for the return of the instruments for all employees in all positions around the shop)
  • Inspection using geometry, general math, general QC standards books, and basic visual techniques to determine whether quality of products is ready to send to the clients in a clean-room environment
  • Preparing all inspection information to send to the clients using various computer skills and programs including Vantage, Word, Excel, and other job-related programs
  • Responsible for checking First-Piece, In-process, and Final inspection of all jobs and correcting and revising the job prints based on QC standards
