I have spent the majority of my professional career working at a non-profit animal welfare organization since 2015 and have advanced rapidly during my time with them. I have filled various roles within this realm from basic kennel duties, medical care/treatment, adoption counseling, event tabling, program management, and team leadership. During this time, I have found a passion for behavior and training and I was able to pursue a dog training certification through the Victoria Stilwell Academy. I have been officially working as a trainer since 2020 but offered behavior counseling for cat and dog owners prior to that certification. I advocate for science-based processes and protocols for animal behavior, specifically in animal sheltering. I have a thorough knowledge of companion animal behavior modification, safe handling practices and enrichment. I am Fear Free certified and have completed an Animal Shelter Behavioral Management certification through the University of the Pacific.
Along with my passion for animal behavior and training, I also have a strong passion for content creation with an emphasis in animal related educational and supportive information. I have created handouts, articles, newsletters, fundraising campaigns and other various resources in previous and current roles. I believe in supporting people and animals by providing the most up to date resources to help people follow the best animal welfare practices. I also enjoy proofreading and making sure that content meets brand standard's and matches the brand voice. I am well versed in understanding and being able to speak to the audiences of shelter staff, adopters, pet owners and others in the animal welfare field. I enjoy collaborating with other team members to provide the most effective content to reach goals but also thrives in a self-guided position where I work with minimal supervision.
Graduated from the Victoria Stilwell Academy in 2020 and created my own dog training business. I offer group classes, private lessons and virtual sessions. I also offer cat behavior advice to pet owners. I am Fear Free Certified and have completed a Shelter Animal Behavior Management Certification. I am also an AKC CGC Evaluator as of 2023.
