Interning at Dr. Sparks clinic was useful to me at the time in high school. Still unsure of what I wanted to do, it lead me to know I wanted to help other living things. Having to watch over 60+ kids has created an insane amount of patience in my life that I value. Being a camp counselor has also helped me a great deal with problem solving. Finally, museum curating has been an impactful job in guiding me to where I want to be in life. I have been seeking for an internship to grow my resume for veterinarian school. I would love to have an internship at Dr. Hobbs if it's available over the summer. If an internship is not available at the time I would love to shadow Dr. Hobbs.
I interned in the mammal museum at Northeastern State University. I would go in at least three times a week to help organize, problem solve, and prepare skulls. The main thing I did was input new mammals into the cases. I was asked to volunteer my time to restructure entire museum over the summer of 2023. After finishing over the summer I was given the only paid position in the museum for my junior and senior year.
I have worked this job for two summers now. It consists of taking care of 60+ kids for four days and three nights. This is our biggest camp that we provide to Tahlequah/Tulsa kids. I am also asked to work the two different day camps that are provided throughout June and July for younger kids.
This internship I worked as a nurses assistant. I sat in on patient visits, drew blood, and learned about what prescriptions treat what problems. This was an internship class I took my senior year of high school.
I have played soccer at NSU for three years now, and plan to complete my senior year this fall. As a junior I was named captain of the 2023 team and earned an all-conference award. It has been an honor to lead an amazing group of girls this past year. I also just recently completed a podcast with Coach Wooten (Riverhawks Sports Nest) to help NSU athletics gain more recognition for funding.
