Maintain the operation of high-pressure oil and gas fired steam boilers, generators, and a variety of auxiliary equipment.

• Controls fuel feed and air flow to ensure complete combustion and to eliminate waste; starts fires, checks boilers and furnaces, brings boilers up to operating pressure; places boilers in service and removes from service as needed.
• Maintain awareness to any malfunction in equipment; takes immediate action and reports malfunction to supervisor.
• Makes inspection rounds throughout the plant to observe equipment and trouble shoot problems, recording levels, pressures and temperatures.
• Maintains correct steam, fuel, air, and vacuum pressures; observes for leaks in boiler and pipes; checks water level in steam drums and tanks.
• Reads steam temperatures and pressure gauges, monitor feed water regulators, related gauges transfer readings into written logs.
• Take samples from water softener, DFT, boilers, and condensate system to test water chemistry.
• Respond to casualties in accordance with the correct procedures to prevent injury to people and damage to equipment.

• Supervised a six man team maintaining equipment and personnel safety to ensure the efficiency of two 600 psi boilers, one turbine generator, condensers, potable water systems, lubricating oil systems, fuel systems, feed water systems, 30 different pumps, reducers and automatic Leslie valves.
• Reviewed blueprints and engineering drawings to ensure system accuracy before beginning any machining operation.
• Performed planned and corrective maintenance on boilers, pumps, valves and generators.
• Reviewed plant operational logs which were used to identify problems and plant efficiency.
• Operated two 600 psi boilers with an automatic control console using compressed air that maintained fuel to air ratio and boiler water level.
• Manually started and stopped turbine generators. Maintained generators lubrication and cooling water systems.
• Performed maintenance on pumps by replacing mechanical seals, mechanical seal coolers, impellers. Insured pumps are lubricated and diagnosing issues in bearings, couplings and shoes.
• Tested Potable water.
• Ran casualty drills to increase the watch teams proficiency and confidence during real casualties.
