Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars is a selective program that provides high school students the opportunity to gain an introduction to Aerospace Engineering studies. This course provided me with the chance to take Introduction to Aerospace Engineering at a community college in which I learned to write scientific research papers. This program also provided me with the opportunity to participate in a week-long summer academy at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia in which a select group of students participated in working on a space exploration to Mars project. This experience provided me with mentoring from NASA engineers, scientists, and technologists, and participation with hands-on engineering activities.
