I have volunteered at several places like private preschool as the assistant, an optometry as a helper, and at a warehouse as a packer, mainly packing products.
For my experiences in the preschool, I focused on helping the teachers when they needed, and accommodate to any needs they have whether it’s helping children in the bathroom or serving foods and snacks. Sometimes it’s long hours of standing and walking because you have to watch the children at all times like when they’re playing outside or inside. There’s also a lot of cleaning and sanitizing, I also learned the steps for first-aid procedures when children get injured.
At the optometry I mostly worked on organizing customer profiles I the files room, and fill in for any short staffed periods during the day. Sometimes I would need to greet customers, lead them to the next room, take out the trash when the day’s over and lock the doors too.
For the warehouse, I focused on packing products, lifting heavy boxes and organizing. Another big part of the volunteer process was also to learn how to apply shipping labels onto the packages at a fast pace. There would also be lots of cleaning by the end of the day.
