As a PCA in the float pool, I work wherever I am assigned. I can work on the floor as a PCA or as a sitter/CO if needed. I check vital signs, I assist with patient care in any capacity that is needed, and I ensure that all needs are met. If needed, I also complete EKGs and bladder scans.
As a student nurse, I took part in all learning opportunites that arised. I was able to assist with foley insertion, wound care, vaccinations, and tube feedings. I would administer medications to my patients but I made sure to complete my head to toe assessments and taking vitals prior to administration. I took part in their ADLs as well. At the clinic, I would administer vaccines, room patients, and provide patient education.
As a CSA, I assist members with placing medication orders and submitting requests for refills to their doctors if needed. I submit Prior Authorization requests if a medication requires it, troubleshoot rejected claims, explain coverage accumulators to members to better understand their copay costs, assist with finding alternatives in their formulary if requested, and I ensure that members have active pharmacy benefit coverage.
As a TCC, I contacted patients once I had received their referrals and insurance approval to complete an intake and helped them get scheduled for a Kidney Transplant Evaluation that would hopefully lead to them being listed. I also maintained the current waiting list to ensure that all testing and vaccinations were up to date. Prior to a patient’s assessment, I made sure to input all necessary orders and follow up. After the assessment was completed with the Physician, I looked over the documentation and consulted with the Physician as needed so that I had all of the necessary information needed to take their case to Selection Committee to discuss whether they were a candidate for Kidney, Pancreas, or Kidney and Pancreas transplant.
As a PCA. I would check the vital signs of patients as they came in for their infusion or lab work appointments and would clean up after they left. I would also tend to patients, assist the nurses as needed, and would schedule future appointments.
As a Lift Tech, I transported patients and/or items to their requested locations in a timely manner. I also assisted various departments as needed such as lift rounds in the ICU or cleaning of certain areas.

If there was any reason patient was unhappy, I would report it to their Specialist so that they could see their potential areas of improvement. Since I was in charge of creating their programs, I made sure that everything was followed correctly during the assessment and throughout the entirety of the program. Data Entry was a large part of my role. Another important role I had was marketing both online as well as in person for the program, the foundation, and any activities we were doing to raise money and awareness. I assisted with all of the event planning as well.
As an EyeCare Advisor, I ensured that all pre-testing was performed for patients prior to seeing the doctor which included the use of a Tonometer, Auto refractor, visual fields machine, and the Optomap machine. I also helped customers pick frames and lenses that were best suited for their prescription. Multi-tasking was also very important for my position.
