Spirit Reins Equine Center provides supplemental therapy to clients by way of hippotherapy in which clients interact with horses. The benefits can include the areas of physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Most of the center's clients are children, who tend to view this form of therapy as more fun than work. My role is detailed below:

  • Assisted the therapist in whatever was needed.
  • Gathered the horses, tack, and necessary gear at the start of the day.
  • Groomed the horses and encouraged participants to help groom the animals and to interact with them in safe, constructive ways.
  • Cared for the horses at the end of the day.
  • Cleaned the arena and indoor area.

  • Made Louisiana Baptists All-State Youth Choir (LBASYC), which toured nationally each summer, all four years of high school.
