Hired by Police Department while pursuing formal law enforcement training at Police Academy. Sustained significant tibia fracture during academy training, requiring major surgery and 6–8 months of recovery. Throughout my recovery, the department retained my employment and accommodated me with light-duty assignments such as evidence destruction, fingerprinting & interviewing pistol permit applicants, processing court paperwork, etc. Ultimately, due to the department's staffing needs and my ongoing recovery, we mutually agreed that separating from the department was the most appropriate decision at that time.
