Professional Highlights

  • In 2015, while with the Chamblee Police Department, Inv. Cushenan was tasked to assist with the creation of a task-force design which was being lead by the Brookhaven Police Department. This design was unique, calling for a multi-agency, intelligence-based taskforce bringing together and partnering community and religious leaders, volunteers, after school programs, business owners and Local, State and Federal law enforcement agencies. This program resulted in a 14% reduction of Buford Hwy Corridor Gun Crimes. Fewer weapons reported at schools and 87 violent repeat offenders adopted for federal prosecution. There were no known 2019 homicides in the Buford Hwy Corridor.
  • During Inv. Cushenan' s time in CID, he was the primary investigator for several high-profile cases including the dismantling of a SUR13 hybrid gang known as the Plaster Road Goonz (PRG). Over a two-year investigation which combined undercover surveillance, informants, social media investigations, gathering and sharing intelligence, community meetings, crime prevention and dozens of search warrants, 12 members of the Plaster Road Goonz were charged with Gang Act, with 22 total arrests including murder, kidnapping, initiations, recruitment, armed robbery and auto thefts. The leader of the gang received life in prison plus 400 years and testified against other members of the gang.
  • "QT Hotdog Murder". High profile case with national media coverage. As the primary investigator Cushenan utilized contacts made with the media and GGIA (Georgia Gang Investigators Association) to solve and provide the Marshalls with information leading to the arrest of a violent gang member. Suspect was subsequently sentenced to life without parole plus 55 years.
  • Certificate of Merit (Highest Award Possible Award in Chamblee): One-year old child Kidnapping Case: Assisted with gathering background intelligence and information related to the suspects vehicle registration and associates. Cushenan located the suspect vehicle on Flock and executed exigent circumstance's location pings with cell phone providers which led to the location of the offenders and missing child 70 miles away in less than five hours. The suspects were complete strangers who took the child at gun point from the mother and were apprehended without incident and the child returned unharmed.
  • Life Saving Award: First on-scene to a two-week-old baby discovered unresponsive and not breathing in her crib. Inv. Cushenan performed CPR and resuscitated the baby who made a full recovery.
