Summary

As the prior Simulator Technician 2 for Fidelity Technologies Corporation, and currently a technician 1 for Orion Solutions my primary focus was the daily operation and upkeep of the Bridge and CIC simulators, the Navy utilizes to train sailors. Utilizing my troubleshooting skills and technical knowledge, I was able to keep the simulators operational to successfully conduct tours of the NSST and satisfy testing requirements. As the AEGIS Local Area Network technical expert onboard USS Winston S. Churchill and USS Mustin, my extensive knowledge and technical skills developed ensured the AEGIS suite was mission ready to successfully complete operational tasking in various area's of responsibility. My technical and troubleshooting skills acquired in the United States Navy whether on the AN/SPY radar system, the AEGIS computer network system or its auxiliary power and water cooling systems will be easily transferred to any commercial or military platform.

  • Provide technical support required to maintain NSST ship simulators.
  • Led in the training of Virtual Ship operations and building and running scenarios successfully.
  • Built Virtual Ship scenarios including replenishment at sea, unmooring and mooring to a pier, towing, man overboard, etc.
  • Led in the training of various instructors in the operation of the simulators at NSST, as well as getting them familiar with Virtual Ship.
  • Conducted tours with Captains and Admirals, and displaying for them scenarios that I built utilizing Virtual Ship.
  • Conducted SOVT of simulator number four in order to turn the simulator back over to GDIT for system updates.
  • Traced cables and connections in the troubleshooting of various monitor, "no sync" errors.
  • VIS #6 failed to join the scenario, an error kept occurring for the fed base on N4VIS6. Spent hours troubleshooting and found the hard drive to be corrupt. Rebuilt hard drive and VIS #6 was able to join the scenario.
  • Troubleshot an acoustic issue we were having with simulator number 4. We were not able to hear the ship's generators when increasing or decreasing speed. Found a faulty connection on the server rack, and was able to replace.

AEGIS Computer Network Technician

  • Troubleshot problems related to APFDDI network infrastructure and performance.
  • Installed and repaired network fiber optic cables, ethernet cables and other networking cabling and conduits including SCSI connections and cabling.
  • Identified and corrected system faults/anomalies in the AEGIS Computers/Networks.
  • Verified proper working order of hardware including circuit cards and microprocessors, software and peripherals.
  • Conducted hundreds of hours of software and hardware maintenance on the AEGIS local area network.
  • Utilizing UNIX commands, I was able to fix countless software communication issues between server racks and consoles.
  • Repaired dozens of magnetic tape drives, video disks, and tape players to ensure proper data recording.
  • Analyzed network issues, developing fixes and troubleshooting problems to maintain 100% operational effectiveness.
  • Managed the connectivity and integration of the AN/SPY multi-function radar system, Weapons Control System, Computer Display System, and various auxiliary systems.
  • Led in the troubleshooting of 400hz, high voltage power distribution and high voltage circuit distribution equipment on board USS Mustin and USS Winston S. Churchill ensuring the equipment was operational and supplying power to the appropriate equipment.
  • Maintained system operation and integration to accurately equate the fire control solution and supply 360 degrees of radar coverage to protect the ship and its assets.
  • Conducted large scale combat systems integration and testing to facilitate watch stander training.
  • As a part of the Combat Systems Training Team, led in the implementation and deployment of various combat system faults to train others in how to respond to casualties, and correct the system faults/casualties to maintain combat readiness.
  • As the Combat Systems Officer of the Watch, I coordinated and directed fault isolation and casualty control for the entire combat system and weapon system on board USS Mustin and USS Winston S. Churchill.
  • Performed daily backups and routine monitoring of switches, relays, local area networks and wide area networks for optimal operation.
  • Conducted local area network logic training and combat systems integration training.
  • As the USS Mustin's battle force tactical trainer operator, I have created a wide variety of scenarios in order to better train the console operators in CIC and to provide watch standers with simulated combat experience.
  • As the Training Petty Officer for my division, led in the monthly training requirements and standards for the division.
  • As the Work Center Supervisor for the AEGIS computer network work center, led in the organization and distribution of maintenance, fault isolation and casualty repair.
  • As the AEGIS computer network technical expert onboard, I corrected over 20 CASREPS to the AEGIS weapon system.
