Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, the Lab Assistant performs Laboratory procedures in phlebotomy, central (specimen) processing and reception. Supports laboratory and management in achieving the goals of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation.

Manages Reception/Registration area

Ensures patients have been greeted using PAMF CARES practice

Verifies and releases appropriate and accurate orders from EPIC to Sunquest

Assist with data collection using Survey Monkey and correct label printing.

Accepts and receives specimens for processing in a timely manner

Contacts Clinical Staff for clarification of orders or no orders

Identifies patients with special needs and provides appropriate assistance

Performs Phlebotomy

Draws patient blood accurately in a timely manner

Provides clear instructions for other sample collections according to established policies and procedures

Maintains Central Processing

Receives, processes, tracks and sends specimens accurately and in a timely manner according to established policies and procedures

In addition to the key accountabilities listed, employees working in this position are expected to accept and perform other duties as requested.

Required:

* High School Diploma or Equivalent Ed/Exp
* Current of State of California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I or 2 Certfication
* CPR/BLS certification required (American Heart Association, Heathcare Provider)
* Maintians current certification in CPT and CPR
* 1 plus years of phlebotomy experience
