Pre COVID-19 I would volunteer at local hospitals and swaddle babies whom were born addicted to drugs. I would just comfort them as best I could while they withdrew from drugs. I also volunteered at the Sojourn Women's Center a place for women and children to stay and be safe from domestic violence in the home. My main goal was to make these mother's know their worth and try to get them employment, housing etc from different organizations in the area. I do look forward to the day I can volunteer again.
I do have a gap in employment from 2008 to 2014 to take care of my then young daughter. My husband passed away suddenly and she was only 6 years old. I had to resign from the State of Illinois to take care of her. I had to sit in her classes with her and I took classes at night at MTI for coding so I could work from home but coding wasn't in demand at that time. She is now a 23 year old college graduate and all issues are resolved.
I didn't mean to get personal, however, I haven't had any luck so I figured just being honest as to why I have a 6 year employment gap may help me find employment.
Pre Covid I swaddled babies born addicted to drugs. I just tried to comfort them as much as possible. I also volunteered at the Sojourn Center a place where women and children can go and be safe during domestic violence issues. They also provide clothing, food and a plethora of other resources. My focus there was to let the women know their worth and give them tools to get to where they don't feel as if they could do this on their own. I hope to get back volunteering soon.
