My name is Angelina Teniza, I’m currently 19 years old and a freshman in college majoring in nursing. My passion for healthcare stems from being able to care and help those who are less fortunate. I pursuit to continue exceeding my expectations and making my parents proud as a first generation nursing student. My ambition to give back to my community and family gives me the strength to balance my school work, my personal bouquet business, my job as a server, as well as managing and helping run my parents catering business. My parent’s support and sacrifice inspires and motivates me to achieve my goals in life while also making time for myself to enjoy the things I love to do. I enjoy traveling and learning from different cultures as well as my own as a first generation Mexican-American. My faith in god has helped me looked at the positive aspects in life and prioritizing the important things in life.
•I interact with residents almost on a daily basis not only by taking their orders and preparing their meals, but as well as accommodating to their specific needs and request. This can be by making direct contact, modifying my tone to be efficiently heard, assisting residents to open certain items, or making specific changes to their meals to accommodate the residents needs.
• At benchmark we treat our residents as family, we are the people they constantly see and interact with. It’s been extremely important to us to make a positive contribution towards the residents and making them feel seen as well as feeling human. I’m patient of their needs as well as understanding, as some residents have restricted mobility or difficulty of hearing and sight.
• We’re attentive of the residents who have specific food allergies and the way their food needs to be cut and prepared to allow easy access of swallowing, as some patients can’t consume their foods through a regular diet.
• Sanitization is an important action we take as we make sure there is no cross contamination in seasonal times of COVID or the flu. We insure all tables are cleaned and sanitized and continue the sanitation process by washing our hands and changing our gloves between different residents.
