• I worked on the Ulta Beauty Media team, both editing and managing copy channels for onsite and offsite ads.
• About a year into my contract, I was given the opportunity to manage paid social on the Ulta Beauty Media team. This gave me invaluable experience in the digital ad space and a special appreciation for gracefully managing concerns and needs from brand partners and communicating copy edits with tact.

• I was asked to help elevate Jockey’s lifecycle brand copy through an email marketing project, working closely with the lead copywriter, the SMS/email marketing manager, and the art director. Utilizing knowledge from prior positions, I created style guides, wrote 150+ data-backed evergreen subject lines, and provided invaluable insight that will take their lifecycle copy to the next level. This opportunity helped me hone my short-form copy skills.

• Working closely with key stakeholders and the design, legal, marketing, social and editorial teams, I successfully wrote hundreds of marketing emails. Utilizing A/B testing and SEO best practices, our team increased sales on countless products, specifically exclusive brand partnerships like Le Creuset, Philips, Breville, etc.
• About a year into my contract, I was given the opportunity to become the Senior Copywriter for the Crate&kids brand email sector. After I assumed that role, our click-to-sale ratio increased 21%. This transition also sparked a 36% increase in email sends, a 130% increase in SMS sends and a 52% increase in clicks, leading to a 14% increase in revenue YoY. I also drafted, wrote and launched our Baby Registry trigger emails with evergreen copy that exceeded click & revenue expectations.

• I worked in various settings to help children and teens learn new skills, utilizing my extensive poetry, literature, and trauma-informed behavioral knowledge. I exercised empathetic teaching techniques with youths in disadvantaged and possibly traumatic environments. I also worked with children with all different ability levels and made each classroom a safe space for every student. Catering to each student’s needs and wants, I was able to help them build their own path towards a successful future. The most inspiring part of this role was mentoring aspiring writers and giving them resources to further their skill sets.

• I was responsible for nearly all the copy that came from the company, including short ad copy, technical copy, medical veterinary writing, high-priority emails, UX copy, magazine articles, newsletters, impact reports, fundraising campaigns, signage, web copy, product copy, etc. We had a large-scale audience, and our writing was crucial in gaining funds from donors. The adoption centers, medical centers, and community centers were all positively impacted by our team’s work, which, in turn, yielded more adoptions in the Chicago area. I worked closely with the design, fundraising, marketing, operations, app, medical, adoption, and legal teams to cohesively create content. This role was very fast-paced, and I learned how to efficiently prioritize tasks here.

• I wrote long-form copy for medical journals in order to inform the public about up-and-coming devices, treatments and medications in different communities. Research and interview skills were a key part of successful performance for this role. I met tight deadlines, and I gave complex subjects a creative and engaging twist.

• I monitored social media accounts for up to 250 luxury hotels at a time, responding in a different tone of voice, branding guideline, and set of grammar rules for each property. I learned how to write quick and pithy copy even during a crisis in order to satisfy guest and client relationships. I was in constant correspondence with account managers, hotel staff and hotel guests to ensure ultimate client satisfaction.

• I helped push textbooks through the pre-pub side of educational publishing. I covered everything from legal writing, to copyediting major textbooks, to liaising between authors and brand managers. When copyediting, my skills were utilized for both grammar and fact-checking. I also helped create content for an e-learning app, including copyediting ebooks, instructor’s manuals & more. This is where I first learned the importance of SEO, data analytics, and product optimization.
