Leadership Experience

  • Montana State Art History Symposium, Bozeman, Montana, 04/21/2021, Guest Speaker, Nature of the Woman: The watercolors and drawings of Frederica Ellsworth Marshall focused on my thesis research of the artist F.E Marshall, who began the art college at Montana State University. Montana State has a collection of over 100 watercolors done by Marshall at the turn of the 19th century but little to no information on her personal life or her life as an artist. Through my research and hands-on experience with Marshall's collection, I created a timeline and biography of the artist as well as producing a paper that contextualizes Marshall within the larger framework of turn-of-the-century botanical art. This research is now being used by Montana State to produce an exhibit of Marshall's work.
  • Student Conservation Association Environmental Leadership Institute, 01/2021 -11/2021, New York, Americorps member, This program provided me with the opportunity to explore different aspects of leadership and learn how leadership techniques can be applied to the environmental and nonprofit sectors. We discussed different forms of leadership and what they would look like within our fields of work such as nonviolent communication and conflict resolution skills. With a significant focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion within the environmental world, we discussed topics such as how to make parks more accessible, small acts of resistance, speaking up against everyday bigotry, and how to be an advocate within your workspace. At the end of our term, we created and presented a resource with anti-racism information and resources pertaining specifically to environmental work to a group of peers and leaders from varying environmental agencies across New York.
