Juvenile Services Officer

Nebraska Probation
04.2022 - Current
  • As a Juvenile Services Officer, I oversee three programs for Nebraska Juvenile Probation. The first program is Juvenile Probation transportation, where I ensure that policies and protocols are followed for transporting juvenile probationers. I also assist probation officers and transportation providers with technical support. Additionally, I analyze transportation data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • The second program I manage is the short-term transition planning protocol, which involves juvenile probation officers working with post-adjudicated probation youth who are placed outside their homes in detention or an alternative to detention. Juvenile probation officers meet with these youth weekly to develop a transition plan that addresses the issues that led to their placement outside the home. The juvenile probation officer will work with community partners and identify resources in the community to ensure the youth and their family can successfully maintain the youth in the home. I review these plans weekly and determine if more intensive planning is necessary. If more intensive planning is needed, the district can request Collaborative Administrative Team staffing.
  • Lastly, I manage Collaborative Administrative Team (CAT) staffing, which involves working with district management, probation officers, and administration staff to find creative solutions for complex cases. The staffing aims to find or create solutions that help move youth's cases forward to ensure they are not lingering in detention or alternatives with a clear plan for their next steps. In my role as a Juvenile Services Officer, I am in charge of managing three programs for Nebraska Juvenile Probation.
