I am currently in a pre-dental track undergraduate degree program at Rutgers University in NJ, majoring in Biological Sciences (STEM). My immediate goal is to become a Dentist and pursue a career in patient centric dentistry.
Helped host NJ's first inaugural oral health conference. Was in charge of tracking Continuing Education credits manually and electronically for all dentists attending the events throughout the day.
Observed several oral surgery procedures including wisdom teeth removals, dental extractions, dental implants, and bone grafting.
As a Teacher Intern for this public speaking academy, I taught a Level 2 class consisting of 15 middle school and high school students from all over New Jersey. I guided them to improve their speaking, confidence, and leadership skills. With my focused efforts, at least 80% of the students increased their overall speaking abilities on a scale of 10, going from a 2-3 to a 7-8. This internship taught me the subtle art of dealing with younger peers, who were just getting exposed to public speaking and social interactions.
As an officer for this organization I helped establish the Princeton chapter. This was my first entrepreneurial attempt. I brought awareness through 8 social media campaigns which I initiated on critical education and medical issues that low income people face in Latin America & Africa. This will help make the mobile clinic platform of MEDLIFE better equipped so that care providers are able to focus more on imminent diseases. I also created 3 local fundraisers to raise money. This was my first exposure to medical care in countries outside the U.S.
I volunteered as a part of my school's UNICEF club which helped provide humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide. Somehow I did not see a growth opportunity in this role, so I decided to move on to another organization where I could have a greater impact.
I was a part of the American Heart Association's advocacy team in which I got to reach out to several NJ Congressman and Senators, making them aware of specific health issues related to child nutrition occurring in our country. This activity taught me how politics & politicians play such a critical role in implementing beneficial policies for non-profits.
Currently an officer of this club, committed to serving students who wish to pursue a career in dentistry or medicine. Meetings have included a suture workshop, dental panels, etc.
Throughout my high school years, I took part in 3 specialty dances, choreographed 3 group dances, practiced and ultimately performed in front of a New Jersey crowd of over 500 people. I grew to become the Director of Fundraising for this club.
Starting from Freshman year, I grew to become the President of the JSA local chapter, leading a team of 50 members. Subsequently, I was elected at the National level to become the New Jersey Region Chief of Staff. Here I get to direct and influence a team of over 2,000 members. JSA has helped me acquire leadership skills and gain the knowledge necessary to be an effective debater, manager, and a civic participant.
I enjoyed this physical activity and saw my game improve from year to year.
I took dental impressions on manikins followed by a discussion with Rutgers student mentors. I participated in chair side clinical observation and attended a panel of dentist practitioners who spoke on their various specialties.
This was a debate convention consisting of 500 students from all of the East Coast.
This was a certificate for completing Level 5 of the Enspire Academy Public Speaking program. My final speech was for 10 minutes on heart attacks where I competed with 20 other pre-qualified students.
In this course, we explored STEM principles relating to Forensics and solving Crime Scenes. This program further enhanced my interest to be in the medical/science related field. In fact, forensics is a big part of Dentistry, which I will be pursuing in the future.
I was selected for this prestigious and intensive 20-hours program from over 100s of applicants. The program was conducted by Rutgers University Professors and real life successful Entrepreneurs in business. In this course we learnt marketing & leadership skills to promote an idea or a business. To graduate from this program, I had to make a detailed business pitch and then present it to the program committee.
