• Utilization Review Nurse working closely with physicians to obtain prior authorization for inpatient, outpatient, and other medical/surgical related services.
• Daily communication with patient insurance companies regarding initial prior authorization as well as continued stay reviews.
• Some discharge planning as well, related to home health services and home O2/DME.

Pediatric, med-surg, cardiac stepdown RN with experience as a charge nurse. I was responsible for leading the care team when working bedside and collaborating with the other professionals such as pharmacy, respiratory, case management and the respective physicians. I frequently helped the education department at UHC with their yearly staff clinical education days as well.

• Bedside travel RN working mostly med-surg, telemetry, and COVID stepdown units. During my time with Triage I also worked as a charge nurse during two of my travel assignments (one at Mon Health and the other UPMC Maryland). In this role I provided much needed relief to the staff nurses at the facilities where I was assigned. I was expected to adjust to the different environments at the various hospitals and work to alleviate the workload of the staff.

• Assisted the manager with staff duties. As the supervisor I was responsible for employee education and yearly competencies, employee payroll and timecard keeping, as well as any disciplinary action that the manager needed assistance with. I also worked with the manager to round on the patients who were on the floor and ensure that needs were being met.
• Enhanced patient care by implementing evidence-based nursing practices and protocols.
• Reduced medication errors by providing thorough training and supervision to nursing staff.

• Utilization Review RN/Case manager who dealt with prior authorizations, continued stay, and discharge notifications for patient admitted to the unit. Experience in some discharge planning as well, mostly regarding home health services and home oxygen/DME.
