Ashley Gutkowski

I am currently a bartender at Still Life UNC. I prepare alcoholic drinks, take customers orders, and work the register all at once. Working at Still Life has taught me customer service skills especially when dealing with intoxicated individuals. I have also learned efficiency and time management. I work in the club area which includes four bartenders and a bar back. When the club is busy, the five of us have learned to work together. Speaking up is a skill that is strengthen as a bartender. The ability to work in teams and speak up in group settings is a skill that I continue to strengthen.

As I attended college, I used the app bambino to connect me to parents who needed sitters. As a sitter, I have cooked, cleaned, driven, and taught the children. When working with parents, I have learned to communicate clearly and to be flexible. Parents are often stressed and I make sure to take some stress off.

In Highschool, I took Early Childhood Education in which I interned at different preschool. In the Summer, I took a job as a classroom assistant. I worked in the 2 year old room and floated around occasionally. The academy had kids ages 0-5. Through my experience at NewBridge I learned how to work with individuals older than me as I was the youngest employee. Working with children I have learned patience and forgiveness.

I worked as a life guard the summer I turned sixteen years old. As a lifeguard I was responsible for working the front desk and concessions, standing on guard, and cleaning the pool. As a sixteen year old, I learned structure and discipline. I also learned how to make work friends and enhance the work place atmosphere.
