Job overview

Overall Duties:

  • Plans, evaluates, and oversees overall daily operation of Youth Center and Eagle Skate Park.
  • Oversees vending operations, all inventory, facility rentals, party rentals, skate park related programming, and Youth Center programming.
  • Will occasionally fill in at Oasis Charter School's Before/Aftercare or Creative Cubs VPK at Youth Center
  • Creates, Instructs, coaches, officiates, and/or supervises indoor and outdoor activities or classes.
  • Creates weekly sign in sheets, reports, agendas, lesson planning, etc.
  • Creates original floor plan ideas for mobile recreation units and skate park buildings.
  • Conducts staff scheduling and breaks, for contract staff members on daily basis.
  • Handles disciplinary related issues with children and staff. Will often speak with parents regarding these issues with supporting documentation.
  • Handles staff related inquiries, issues, scheduling, discipline, and time off.
  • Consistently researches trends and conducts surveys to mentally stimulate activities that can boost programming, improve programming, or create original programming.
  • Collaborates with community agencies and city departments to provide youth program opportunities and community involvement programs.
  • Provides transportation or use of City vehicles for purpose of field trips, to pick up program supplies, take to fleet for maintenance, or for other job related purposes.
  • Actively monitors and reports routine maintenance work orders to keep equipment in optimal working condition. Arranges work orders to be processed to maintain security and safety for both personnel and patrons.
  • Conducts general vending and computer troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Promotes safety of visitors and mitigates liability risks by monitoring recreation areas, documenting incidents/accidents, enforcing rules and safety policies, speaking with families, taking control of emergency related situations, fire drill tests, etc. Performed basic first aid and contacted emergency services when needed.

Training Responsibilities:

  • Conducts training seminars, staff meetings, and coaching clinics for all contract personnel.
  • Cross-trains existing employees to minimize short staffing and to increase performance.
  • Performs training in various areas such as register use, cash handling practices, customer service, RecTrac, merchandising, food handling practices, City policies and procedures, DCF rules and regulations, safety protocol, event and rental training, skate park related expectations, etc.

Recruitment or Interviewing:

  • Interviews and assists in processing new hires.
  • Recruits, trains, part-time and seasonal personnel.

Marketing and Promoting:

  • Markets promotional activities and purchases materials as directed. i.e., soliciting sponsorship, website updates, public service announcements, program guides, creating flyers, running City affiliated social media pages such, coordinating with community partners as applicable.
  • Runs William "Bill" Austen Youth Center's Facebook page.
  • Runs Eagle Skate Park's Facebook, Instagram, and Google Business page.
  • Creates original videos, photos, graphics designs for flyers, staff shirts, and other promotional material.

Budgeting/Financial/Inventory Responsibilities:

  • Performs related duties such as handling cash handling procedures, counting and signing off on deposits, resolving payment errors and RecTrac related issues, bookkeeping, taking payments, billing, processing refunds, applying late fees when, booking reservations, etc.
  • Tracks program spending, financial goals, and creates budgeting constraints through spreadsheets, quoting supplies out, etc.
  • Orders food, concessions, or other supplies/products as needed. As well as records, reports, and manages all inventory for Youth Center and Skate Park. Ensures equipment is maintained and within expiration dates.
  • Conducts inventory counts, stock product, and orders merchandise or concession resell.
