Ava Skidgel

I'm a provider in the childcare room at the workout studio. I oversee up to seven children ages newborn to ten years of age.

I sign clients into their workout classes, clean and organize the workout studio, answer calls, and assist clients in making purchases.

I observe current environmental conditions at my high school and in the local community to report back to fellow high school representatives. I presented a thorough public policy proposition with knowledge from my school's Law and Society class to the school district board and plan to carry out policies in the coming year.

• Contributed to a positive team environment by collaborating with fellow interns on group projects and presentations.

I attend monthly meetings, develop and execute events, and fill in as secretary to organize meetings. I put together community events such as the Haunted Halloween Walk, College Opportunities Zoom, and the upcoming Family Dance.

I trained for an abroad experience in the Spring of 2023 and went on a trip with the organization to Panama focusing on sustainable development in June. Following the trip, I wrote an article for their blog and was nominated as a youth host for their Adelante Benefit in September 2023. The same month I was accepted into their Social Impact Accelerator program to apply knowledge gained from my abroad experience to better impact my community, which I am actively a part of now.

I collaborate with fellow board members on my high school's newspaper to strengthen each issue. Another part of my role is working with fellow graphics team members and teaching Indesign software to the class. I manage The Mirador's social media and issued a complete redesign of the Logo, Newspaper, Magazine, and Website layouts.
