I've worked retail for almost three years now which helped me develop good customer service skills. Working at the service desk improved my working under pressure due to the business of the store. Throughout my time at retail and volunteering to help younger kids out at school, I have gained the skill to work well with people and help other people efficiently. Also while working for transport at the position I am currently in at Lawrence general hospital, I grew to care for patients very well and grew very fond of it. Once working at Lawrence General Hospital for a couple years now, I decided to obtain my certification to become a nursing assistant. I became a CNA in April this and have loved it since. I take care of plenty patients daily on various floors such as telemetry, med surg and ICU. I have seen and learned a lot in the medical field while working with multiple doctors and nurses and hope to become a nurse and have a larger impact in people's health.
While working currently for transport, I do tasks such as bringing patients to exams like X Rays, MRI's and more. If a patient has trouble walking, I would do whatever I can do to help get the patient onto the stretcher or wheelchair with the nurses assistance if needed. Sometimes if the patient can not get up at all, we would need to slide the patient across to the stretcher using a slide board.
While working as a service desk associate, I completed various tasks such as helping customers return items from the store they no longer wanted and helped them with any financial problems they had such as paying bills, cashing checks, etc.
I volunteered to help out the Lawrence High track team coaches during this year for an event called Special Olympics. During this event, I helped organize and helped the young kids get through every event and made sure they were safe and having fun. I developed many leadership skills during my team assisting the coaches.
I was rewarded a job promotion from cashier to service desk associate within a year working part time due to still being enrolled in school because of outstanding work performance. During my first month of working for transport at LGH, I was notified by my previous manager that I was bringing the second most patients to exams around the hospital that month. I would also get frequent meetings with my managers talking about how well I was working.
