Work History

Senior Specialist Field Engineer IV

L3Harris Technologies
11.2018 - Current
  • Senior field service engineer responsible for operating and maintaining Fixed Autonomous SATCOM Terminals (FAST)/Open RSO Architecture (ORA) terminals; Quad-band Large Aperture Antenna (QLAA), Forward Wide Terminal (GMT), Satellite Earth Terminal Sub System (SETSS) supporting SOCOM and AFSOC activities. Other O&M functions include the Secure Video Receive Terminals (SRVT) (2x and 3.0), providing full-motion video (FMV) to ground forces and intelligence activities. Maintenance actions included, but were not limited to, operating system and application software upgrades, signal flow troubleshooting, network configuration, and infrastructure installation.
  • Site lead responsible for the integration of the new FAST/ORA systems at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti; all three terminals cut-over without any downtime or loss of mission capability. Directed impromptu site support infrastructure changes that in turn benefitted the FAST/ORA install; changes provided three additional days to the install team’s already constrained schedule.
  • Deployed to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan from January to June 2021: Charged with terminal level real-time FMV supporting Special Operations Joint Task Force - Afghanistan (SOJTF-A) combat and reconnaissance missions from MQ-9 Reaper aircraft. Deployment task was originally to upgrade the sites four QLAA and RFT systems; however, due to the sudden withdrawal of American forces, all systems were deinstalled and retrograded within a week.

Senior Program Manager/Site Lead

Crystal Clear Technologies
05.2022 - 09.2024
  • Program Manager responsible for the data network cable infrastructure, both inside and outside plant, for JSOC at Fort Liberty, NC, and its operating locations around the country. Duties included assisting the comm & information directorate (J6) with cable infrastructure long-range, strategic planning for new JSOC facilities and renovations, conducting engineering surveys, developing project timelines, engineering project packages, developing computer aided design (AutoCAD) drawings, building list of materials (LOM) for command engineering and installation (E&I) initiatives, briefing J6 leadership on infrastructure status, and developing work load and logistic support plans. Site Lead responsibilities included direct supervision of fifteen full-time employees: fourteen data cable technicians and one logistician.
  • Responsible for ensuring completion of preventive maintenance inspections (PMI) of the existing cable plant systems, managing, and prioritizing daily work orders, updating the automated workflow platform, ensuring installation and maintenance records deliverables are accomplished, and coordinating test equipment calibration.
  • Identified severe management shortfalls of the command’s cable plant and developed a plan to begin correcting decades of neglect. Oversaw the removal of over 50K feet of unused copper cabling which freed over 20k feet of useable duct space. Developed plant-in-place records in AutoCAD where none previously existed.

Senior Field Engineer IV

L-3 Communications
12.2014 - 11.2018
  • Senior field engineer accomplished depot level maintenance of Secure Modem Link Assemblies (SLMA) and Predator Modem Assemblies (PMA) supporting AFSOC missions in Southwest Asia and regions in Africa. Ensured critical command and control links to MQ-9 and MQ-1B Predator aircraft were available when required. Performed link restoral troubleshooting when command and control capabilities of the aircraft were lost which included, but not limited to, long-haul communications connectivity to the distant relays, ground control station (GCS) equipment, COMSEC, and/or Microsoft & Linux OS software issues.
  • Deployed to the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) Operations Center, Erbil, Iraq from July to December 2016: Operated and maintained Remotely Operated Video Enhanced Receiver (ROVER) video feeds for Joint Tactical Air Control (JTAC) parties. This capability gave decision-makers real-time view of the battlefield from fighter, gunship, and Apache targeting pods, RPA feeds, and other AISR assets leading up to and during the Iraqi Army offensive to recapture the city of Mosul.

Principal Field Engineer

L-3 Communications
08.2010 - 12.2014
  • O&M of Airborne Common Data Link (ACDL) on Army RC-12 Guardrail Common Sensor (GRCS) and EO-6C Air Reconnaissance-Low (ARL) aircraft supporting real-world NSA SIGINT activities in South Korea. Maintained aircraft trackers and the primary 6.4M Tri-Band Satellite Subsystem (TSS) backhaul for Field Station Korea, performed system administrator duties for NSAM, collected overhead imagery data to share and forward collections systems for Air Force Research Labs. Performed software upgrades of Line Replaceable Units (LRU) with basic use of Microsoft and Linux operating systems command line inputs.
  • During a temporary assignment to Jalalabad, Afghanistan, successfully refurbished a TSS damaged from years of service in Iraq. Normally this activity required returning the terminal to the US. Completed in 3 weeks; a fifteen-month turn-around time and over $5M were saved by keeping the terminal in the unit on site. Received accolades from the task force commander and government contracting officer for the work performed from L3-CSW for my actions.
