Learning to Play the Piano
It began as a small interest during the pandemic. I kept a keyboard in my room and would occasionally pluck out simple tunes that I recognized. I learned I had some ease of playing-by-ear, or listening to a song and being able to find the notes and play it without written music. As I moved into High-School and into it's band program, I used my piano to help me learn the professional level music and to also write improvised solos for the jazz band. Near the end of my junior year, I began taking formal lessons which have taught me proper technique and further improved my musical abilities.
